Originally, poker was a game that was played with a single card deck. It is now played with a 52-card deck. Depending on the version of the game, cards may be dealt face up or face down. If a showdown does not occur, the player with the highest-ranking bet will be declared the winner. A showdown will also occur when a player has a five-card straight or flush. The player with the highest-ranking flush or straight will be the winner. In some games, a wild card will be used to make a five-of-a-kind.<\/p>\n
In other variants, a single card is dealt. If no player calls the first bet, the pot is divided equally among all players. In other types of poker, there is an interval of betting, called the ante. The ante is typically the minimum bet that a player must make. In some versions of the game, the ante may be doubled or tripled when a player makes a short series of raises.<\/p>\n
